It's not my opinion. Genres are defined by their sound. You wouldn't say Megadeth is country, and if you did, you'd be wrong... because it's NOT opinion. Saying Slipknot is metal is no more right than calling them reggae.

Hmmmm. i personally think anything that is as heavy or heavier than metallica is metal. its not about the lyrics, its about the use of instruments.

You're right, but you're also wrong. It is mostly about the use of the instruments, but, heavy != metal. Just simply being heavy doesn't make you metal.

As far as the lyrics go, the lyrics don't define what metal is (although it can define sub-genres

), but you'll notice a huge difference in the lyrics between real metal bands and the fake garbage that calls itself metal.
