Hey guys, I just saw the hassle you were getting on the thread in GDD on PBS I see both sides of the debate, doing the same style can get repetative after a while and can see uninspired, but then the more you do the same theme, the better you get and more experienced and then you start to stand out more amongst the interface crowds, therefore you get recognition even from a popular theme. You already have a thread for potential colours, and here are some classical themes in architecture that I think could be used as a basis for a template very well. And if you went for the greens/purples and pink route, very well indeed and may give Kami a nice surprise and the others a shock lol! Art Deco - Strong lines and shapes, bold, colourful. Geometric designs, lots of black outlines and if you can pull off the colour blending well, this could look awesome and very different from many design forums I've seen. And the liquid metal effect could work better than you would expect I imagine. Here are some random pics I googled - This isn't for a idea exactly, more just some potential inspiration and showing you the Art Deco theme and shapes. I'm curious to whether you think it could be translated into a forum design scheme or not? I won't embed incase it stretched the page... FlowersSunburst Stained GlassAbstract TulipsJazz PosterLight FittingStained Glass PanelArt Deco FractalFilm PosterFabricCanvas ImageOr if you still wanted something sleek and curvy, then Art Nouveau which is kinda the same but with intricate detail and flowing arcs. IrisesArt Nouveau Anime styleButton - looks like a orb lolVaseGlass EtchingMetal GateCharles Rennie Mackintosh RoseAnyway, after a lotta links lol. You get the idea I'm trying to put across. But I think it could work because rather than trying to be very futuristic, you're actually taking a step back in time...but it could still be modern Opinions, rebuttals, lets here it haha!

Thank you for taking the time to do this Gem. Very nice idea with some great links and inspiration.
I am quite fond of the metal gates and the light fitting. I am sure something really nice could come out of them.

I was hoping you kinda liked it the suggestion I love the flowing and dramatic shapes of this era, also the bold, clashing use of colour. You could probably find better examples of Art Deco in actual digital art on DA to see more a conceptual design in place. And it's very far away from the existing layout, it may cause a few close minded heads to spin on GDD lol. It may be outta yours and X's comfort zone but sometimes taking a risk can pay off - kinda like how members were shocked at the Autumn skin on PBS lol

Version 2? This forum is one month old today, why do you need a new version already? I agree with this dude, if this skin is only a couple of months old then I would leave it. I would just keep bringing in new stuff and competitions, which is what you are doing. You could start on V2 now but I would wait at least 2-3 months if you wanna a new one.

I think that's the idea here. We're just forming ideas early so the staff know what to do etc and what the members like and don't like.

Well, since this is just ideas.... I want a completely pink skin, with fluffy bunnies on it. No, really. It'll be different to say the least.

Well, that was a joke, clearly rabbits and stuff won't work xP But - I think a pink skin would actually be pretty awesome.
