Yeah no name yet, will decide on one when i get further into it. Feel free to give me name suggestions if you think any up.
So this is a forum software that i am currently coding up in PHP and backed with MYSQL. It was originally being made to go with the Project A i was working on, but i have put that project on hold for the moment as i won't have the time to keep it going nor have the funding to set it up.
What is done so far?
So far the main page just has a menu. If you are a guest you have Home, Login and Register links. If signed in you have Home, Profile, Memberlist and Logout buttons.
- Registration: Currently you can register for an account. Upon registration an email with a unique verification code is sent so that you can activate your account. Also spent quite a while securing the script and the passwords.
- Login: After registration you are able to login. This will take you to the member version of the index.
- Edit profile: You can edit your profile, so far you only have the ability to change your email, change your password.
- Memberlist: If logged in you can see a memberlist which displays all of the members. You can click on the names to view their public profile.
- Public profile: At the moment this only displays the username of the members profile you are visiting.
Currently working on?
- Admin control panel: So far i have added the ability to create a board, but not yet coded in the display for them on the main page.
-------
Hopefully in 2 weeks i will have a Beta version set up which will include or the basic features and allow for testing. I then hope to have a public release of it withing 3 - 4 months for public download and use.

Thanks Guys. @ Jasek: JyeBB sounds cool, mind you have the open source boards are called something BB UPDATE: Board created in the admin area are displayed on the index page now, although i ran into a few errors with this, so far it seems to only display the first board made and none of the others. I am working on a fix for this now.

UPDATE: I solved the problem with the board display. Now all boards that are created in the admin area are displayed on the main page.
I am now working on a section in the admin panel that will allow you to delete boards.

Including me? It sounds good and I'm looking forward to seeing it... and since you're doing the same stuff I'm doing, you can help me if I get stuck somewhere, right?

Definitely you, would be good for another PHP coder to give it a test run. Yeah, and i am sure you could help me if i get stuck. Which is something i was going to do today when i ran into a problem, although i sorted it out now. Have you manually made the boards on the index page of the forum, or did you create them through an admin panel of some sort? Btw, i am surprised you didn't know that the php could be ended and still work afterward

Have you manually made the boards on the index page of the forum, or did you create them through an admin panel of some sort? Btw, i am surprised you didn't know that the php could be ended and still work afterward I didn't know that because of the way I learn. I learn the absolute basics and then start coding. When I decide I want to do something that I don't know how to do, I find out how. Because of that, I am able to teach myself quickly, but I miss little things like that. That's what forums are for. And yeah, I'll help with whatever you need. I notice you seem to be posting a bit in that other forum, too. Matt is absolutely brilliant, and he's great at much more than just PHP. If you want to know more about coding, listen to this guy. The boards on my page were created manually, but they weren't placed on the page manually. They're pulled from a database and I set it up so that I can create them from the admin panel once I finish it up a bit more. I'm more concerned about working on the stuff that people actually see, first, though. Back room stuff can come later. That's only to make things easier anyway. I look forward to seeing your project.

It sounds really cool, considering I'm making my own message board as well. Unlike you, I've yet to start working on an admin CP. All administration stuff is done directly on the database.
I'll be really curious to see how it looks when you're all done. What are your plans with this once you're done? Are you thinking of selling/licensing it, making it open source, or using it to host other people's boards like PB?

Same with me actually. I learned the basics and began from there. Each time i need something that i have not seen before i either search for a quick tutorial on it, or ask fir a bit of assistance on a forum. Since starting though i have continually grown my knowledge from doing so.
Ah fair enough. I wanted to jump right in and include the admin functions. As i have said i have the ability of creating new boards and i am still in the process on and off, of making the ability to delete and edit them.
I look forward to seeing it finished as well.
Yeah, as i said above i wanted to jump in and get the admin panel working, in it's basics anyway.
To be completely honest i am not to sure on how i will go about it. An open source sounds good while at the same time remotely hosting it like proboards. I guess that way people have a choice and could still use it if they don't have hosting etc. Selling it is something i doubt, for now anyway. Maybe in to the future of development i may have some sort of paid version, but this all depends on how it goes i guess.

I kept the ideas of hiding/showing, editing, and deleting boards in my mind when I made the database and code, so it'll be very easy for me to just add the code to the admin panel. I've also done so many similar codes that I can throw that together in a few minutes. One of the most common things I've made is admin panel/CMS.

The smart thing to do.
Well i have sorted a few of the problems out now, just going through the coding and cleaning it all up a bit.
