I look forward to seeing the beta, Jye.
I've been working on my own software as a small side project over the past week as well. Just something to kill the time when I hit a dead end with the two projects I'm actively working on. I currently have user registration, login/logout, some rudimentary security validations, board index displaying with on/off icons, thread display inside boards. I'll continue to flesh out the post display next.
Are you utilizing a template engine at all?

Thanks, i am hoping to get it out this weekend, but it all depends on how i go over the next 2 days.
Sounds good, wouldn't mind seeing that myself. I haven't added the ability for on or off images yet, although when i get around to the ease of skinning with CSS it will be included.
I had the idea of using Smarty but decided just to build everything myself, from the ground up.

More fun on our own i guess. Besides we can see who's functions the best, or is better on security etc. UPDATE: Just removed a few bugs i had in the display of replies to a thread. Also added an information center, well half of it anyway. Working on a few small additions now.

Update:
Pretty much completed the entire information center. I just included the users online section (which i was dreading, but played around a bit and managed to use a really easy method of doing so).
Just fixing up a bug in the main page display for last post and amount of posts for each board.
I will then add a private message system and will be all but complete for a beta release.

So many people are making forum software! Why dont you all collab it? Not to mention we're all going slightly different directions. Mine is just a minor side project that will simply stay on the SVN repository. Yilduz and echnaret are writing theirs for specific incorporation into their web pages. And Jye's taking on a whole other spin with writing his software to be capable of being a service. Believe it or not there's some nasty differences in how your write the database and optimize your queries when you step away from your typical self-hosted forum to a remotely hosted system.

Yeah guess that is true. Their software is catered only to their needs.
Mind you the remotely hosted is still only a though. It may not happen if i choose just to keep it as a download-able software.
UPDATE: Getting closer to the beta release. Just working on fixing a few more bugs at the moment.

Way to out-knownledge me big time. I known nothing about web languages myself. Looking forward to seeing it Jye.

UPDATE: Still working on an error with the main page board display that i recently found. Also adding a post count for each member. And because i am nice here is a preview of the main page boards and information center: wimg.co.uk/FfKhVv.jpgYes i made 20 user accounts for testing purposes, and half of the threads are just random letters which is why the latest post in the information is just random numbers i pressed when making the thread.

UPDATE: I have added a signature feature. Your signature will appear in posts and your profile. At the moment it only supports text, links and images in web form not ubbc.

UPDATE: Regarding the signature feature. It only supports text at this time, no images will work in there at the moment. I may remove the feature from the beta until i can add UBBC for it.
Main page problem is fixed.
I am working on the private message system now.
